Practical Art
We love our Michael Graves tea kettle!! It's a work of art so we don't mind leaving it setting out on the stove. We've used this tea kettle almost everyday for three years and the finish still looks great. Too high heat will discolor the stainless as stated in the instructions. Heating on medium to medium-high heat has been just fine. The whistle is whimsical and useful. Initially we were hesitant to pay this much for a tea kettle, but now we're glad we invested in something beautiful and practical.
functional folk art
This is a beautifully designed kettle.
More like a piece of art that lives on one's stove.
The only down side of this item is its price - but sometimes one has to splurge.
It brings joy on a daily basis.
Junk
We use a coffee press, and drink a fair amount of tea. This kettle, which we received as a wedding gift, was used for < 6 months and the bottom fell off when we forgot & left it on the stove too long! In addition, prior to this, the sides started to scorch, and no cleaning product returned it to it's shine. And, the whistle worked occasionally, but not consistently.
If you want an expensive, attractive teapot to sit on the stove without being used very often, this is a great choice.
For us, it was a big disappointment.
