Great mixer!
First off let me say that to give a product 1 star because you neglected to read the manual and washed the attachments in the dishwasher isn't a negative to the product but to the user.
The mixer works great for what I need it for. It isn't as heavy duty as some of the others but its great for cookies, cakes, icing, and mashed potatoes and such. I've been wanting one if these for awhile and am glad I bought it.
aluminum hook and mixer attachment
I didn't read the instruction manual and put the burnished metal hook and flat mixer paddle in the dishwasher. The next time I use the attachments, I noticed my hands were getting discolored from them. I called Kitchenaid. The discoloration was cause by the hook and paddle. The burnished metal was ALUMINUM and shouldn't be put in a dishwasher. In my opinion aluminum should not bet used in food preparation at all. I have thrown out my old aluminum pots and pans, and wont use aluminum foil without first covering food with parchment paper or plastic wrap. So now I have to purchase the coated hook and paddle at my own expense. I would not recommend this mixer. Its sad that the Susan G. Komen foundation would partner with a such product.
