Oster 4 Slice Toaster

What were they thinkin'?
I've inadvertantly become a toaster connoisseur of toasters. I'm either hard on them, or I lose them (I have no idea where they go). Nevertheless, here we were again shopping for a sturdy toaster. This one isn't it.

This model has a plastic 'feel' that goes beyond the fact that it's plastic. The buttons and knobs have that plastic sponginess that exudes cheap, not just inexpensive. But we had high hopes...

Within the first month or so, one of the four slots had a spring, or wire - whatever pops the bread back up - broke; so we were quickly down to 3 slots. There is also a design issue (in my opinion) where the mechanism that grabs or holds the bread in place when you decend/press down to start toasting ONLY holds the top. This means that the bottom of your bread is free to end up just about anywhere; including right up next to the elements for that black/burned toast that some love. If you try to toast something that is flimsy going in, or that gets...

Best toaster I ever owned
I have had several toasters over the past 25+ years. I finally got tired of toasing my bread, flipping it around; then toasting it some more. So I searched on line; read reveiws; and ended up bying a $99 toaster. The very first slice I toasted only toasted well on one side and I had to once again flip it around to finish the job. Three months later the knob broke off. A year later I was fed up and found this toaster at Menards. That was three years ago. The first slice and every slice since has been evenly toasted on both sides. For the price, if it broke tomorrow I would still give it a 5. I could own four of these for what I paid for brand X. I recently purchased a second one and donated it to our church. Yes, the plastic case seems cheap but what matters is the quality of the end product. I have toasted bagels before and have had no complaints. If I must complain about something, I woudl say the crumb trays need to be deeper. Since I only clean out crumbs a couple...

Not much good in this Toaster
I bought this toaster to replace an older unit that was not toasting as well as it once did. Unfortunately, this toaster is erratic in it's toasing. Also I use the "bagel" position a lot and this one does not work as it toasts both sides to the same degree rather than just one side. Also it has begun to not fully release the toast when it finishes. I have had this Oster toaster about 3 weeks now and have begun looking for a replacement.Oster 4 Slice Toaster 7776
